Create Booking Types
A booking type represents something people can reserve at your space—a class, session, workshop, or any recurring offering.
What You'll Do
- Create a new booking type
- Set the name and description
- Configure duration and capacity
- Choose visibility settings
Step-by-Step
1. Navigate to Booking Types
From your dashboard, go to Bookings > Booking Types in the sidebar.
2. Create New Booking Type
Click Create Booking Type to start.
3. Name Your Booking Type
Give it a clear, descriptive name that visitors will understand.
Good examples:
- "Morning Flow Class"
- "Beginner Pottery Workshop"
- "Guided Meditation Circle"
- "Table Reservation"
Avoid:
- Internal codes ("MT-101")
- Vague names ("Session")
- Overly long names
4. Write a Description
Describe what visitors can expect. Include:
- What happens during the session
- Who it's suitable for (level, age, etc.)
- What to bring or prepare
- Any prerequisites
Example:
"A high-energy fitness class focused on building strength and technique. Suitable for all levels—beginners welcome! Bring comfortable workout clothes, a towel, and water. Equipment provided."
5. Set Duration
How long does one session last?
Common durations:
- 30 minutes (quick session)
- 60 minutes (standard class)
- 90 minutes (extended session)
- 120+ minutes (workshops)
6. Say Who It's For
Every booking type is one of two things, and this is the first thing a visitor sees on your booking page:
| What it means | |
|---|---|
| Group | Several people book the same session — a class, a workshop, a circle |
| Private | One person books the whole session — a 1-on-1, a consultation |
Choosing Private sets it to one person and hides the seat count, because there isn't one to set.
Choosing Group asks how many can join. Leave it blank if there's genuinely no limit — a drop-in open session, say.
When you're deciding the number, consider:
- Physical space limitations
- Quality of experience per person
- Equipment availability
- Instructor-to-participant ratio
You can always increase the number later. It's harder to reduce it after people have booked.
Before this setting existed, the only clue was the seat count — and if you left it blank, visitors were told nothing at all about whether they'd be arriving to a room of twelve or a session of their own. People said so. Now the answer is on the booking page before they commit.
7. Choose Visibility
Decide who can see this booking type:
- Public — Appears on your website, anyone can book
- Unlisted — Only accessible via direct link (good for special events)
- Hidden — Only visible to you (useful for drafts)
8. Save Your Booking Type
Click Save to create your booking type.
What's Next?
Your booking type exists, but it doesn't have any scheduled sessions yet. People can see what you offer, but they can't book specific times.
Let's fix that by setting your schedule.
