Connect Your Domain
By default, your space lives at your-space.tatiya.space. But you can connect your own domain—like www.yourspace.com—for a more professional presence.
What You'll Do
- Understand domain options
- Purchase a domain (if needed)
- Connect it to your Tatiya site
- Verify the connection
Do You Need a Custom Domain?
Benefits of a Custom Domain
- Professional appearance — yourspace.com looks more established
- Brand consistency — Match your business cards, social media
- Easier to share — Simple URL for word-of-mouth
- SEO advantages — Build authority on your own domain
When the Default Works Fine
Your your-space.tatiya.space URL is perfectly functional. Keep it if:
- You're just getting started
- Budget is tight
- You primarily share links via social media
- Your space is informal or community-focused
You can always add a custom domain later. The default URL works while you grow.
Getting a Domain
If You Already Own a Domain
Skip to the "Connecting Your Domain" section below.
If You Need to Buy One
Popular domain registrars:
- Namecheap — Affordable, straightforward
- Google Domains — Clean interface, fair pricing
- Cloudflare Registrar — At-cost pricing, great performance
- GoDaddy — Common but often more expensive
Choosing a Domain Name
Tips:
- Match your business name exactly if available
- Keep it short and memorable
- Avoid hyphens and numbers if possible
.comis most recognized, but.space,.studio,.cowork too
Examples:
sunrisefitness.comlotusyoga.studiotheclayworkshop.co
Cost: Typically $10-15/year for common extensions.
Connecting Your Domain
Step 1: Navigate to Domain Settings
In your Tatiya dashboard, go to Website > Domain & Search.
Step 2: Enter Your Domain
Type your domain either way — with or without the www.:
yourspace.com, orwww.yourspace.com
We set up both forms for you. Whichever one you type becomes your main
address, and the other one sends visitors there automatically — so people who type
the www. out of habit still land in the right place.
Click Connect domain.
Step 3: Get DNS Instructions
Tatiya will show you the exact DNS records you need to add. You'll typically see:
For yourspace.com (root domain):
Type: A
Name: @
Value: [IP address shown - e.g., 216.198.79.1]
For www.yourspace.com:
Type: CNAME
Name: www
Value: cname.vercel-dns.com
Step 4: Add DNS Records at Your Registrar
Log into your domain registrar (where you bought the domain) and find DNS settings.
This is usually under:
- "DNS Management"
- "DNS Settings"
- "Manage DNS"
- "Domain Settings > DNS"
Important: Before adding new records, delete any existing A, AAAA, or CNAME records for the same hostname (@ or www). Conflicting records will prevent verification.
Add the records Tatiya provided:
- Delete any existing A/AAAA/CNAME records for the hostname
- Create a new record
- Select the type (A for root domain, CNAME for www)
- Enter the name (@ or www)
- Enter the exact value shown in Tatiya
- Save
After adding records, changes take time to spread across the internet. This can take:
- Minutes to hours (typically)
- Up to 48 hours (rare, worst case)
Step 5: Wait for the Connection
You don't have to do anything here. We check your domain every few minutes in the background, so you can close the page and come back later — the status updates on its own.
When it's working: the domain shows Connected and working.
In a hurry? Click Check now to check immediately.
Still waiting? DNS changes can take a while to spread. See Troubleshooting below — the most common cause by far is Cloudflare's orange cloud.
Common DNS Setups by Registrar
Namecheap
- Log in to Namecheap
- Go to Domain List > Manage
- Select "Advanced DNS"
- Add the records under "Host Records"

- Log in to Google Domains
- Select your domain
- Go to DNS > Custom records
- Add the records
Cloudflare
- Log in to Cloudflare
- Select your domain
- Go to DNS > Records
- Click "Add record" for each
- Important: Set proxy status to "DNS only" (gray cloud), not "Proxied"
GoDaddy
- Log in to GoDaddy
- Go to My Products > Domains
- Select your domain > DNS
- Add records under "Records"
Troubleshooting
"Domain not verified" After Waiting
Check:
- Did you add the records with the exact values shown in Tatiya?
- Did you delete any existing A, AAAA, or CNAME records for the same hostname?
- For root domains (@), did you use an A record (not CNAME)?
- For www, did you use a CNAME pointing to
cname.vercel-dns.com?
Try:
- Delete old/conflicting DNS records
- Double-check for typos in the IP address or CNAME value
- Wait another hour and re-verify
- Use dnschecker.org to verify your records are correct
Site Shows Old Content / Different Site
You may have existing DNS records pointing elsewhere. Delete any old A, AAAA, or CNAME records for your domain before adding the Tatiya records.
HTTPS / Security Warning
SSL certificates are automatic but can take up to an hour to activate after domain verification. If you see a security warning, wait and try again.
Cloudflare Users
If you're using Cloudflare as your DNS provider, make sure the proxy status is set to "DNS only" (gray cloud icon), not "Proxied" (orange cloud). The orange cloud causes SSL conflicts.
